An adapter that allows you to connect an M.2 NVMe M-Key SSD to an M.2 A-Key or E-Key slot originally intended for a Wi-Fi or network card. It consists of an M.2 A/E-Key card and a remote M.2 M-Key bracket, connected by a 15-cm shielded FPC cable.
The connection uses the PCI Express lanes available on the motherboard’s M.2 A/E Key port. The NVMe SSD must be compatible with the number of PCIe lanes provided by this slot, which is generally limited to a single PCIe x1 lane. The adapter does not support CNVi/CNVio interfaces or M.2 SATA SSDs.
Compatibility:
M.2 Key A or E port with an active PCI Express signal.
Compatible with M.2 Wi-Fi or network slots using a PCIe interface.
Compatible with M.2 NVMe M Key SSDs that support a PCIe x1 link.
Compatible with the NVMe protocol.
Not compatible with Intel CNVi/CNVio slots without a standard PCIe signal.
Not compatible with M.2 SATA SSDs.
Windows and Linux compatibility depends on the system’s and BIOS/UEFI’s NVMe support.
Technical Specifications:
M.2 Key A/E to M.2 M Key NVMe adapter.
M.2 Key A/E host interface.
M.2 M Key device interface for NVMe SSDs.
M.2 bracket adaptable to 2230, 2242, 2260, or 2280 formats.
PCI Express connection without protocol conversion.
Number of PCIe lanes generally limited to x1 depending on the host port’s wiring.
Connection between the two cards via a 15 cm FPC ribbon cable.
Flexible ribbon cable with EMI shielding film.
M.2 bracket compatible with 2230, 2242, 2260, or 2280 form factors.
Powered by the M.2 port.
Installs in an M.2 slot intended for Wi-Fi or network cards.
Maximum throughput is limited by the PCIe generation and the number of lanes available on the M.2 A/E Key port.
No SATA-to-NVMe conversion.
Requires an NVMe SSD compatible with the available PCIe interface.
System boot capability depends on the computer’s BIOS/UEFI.
Comes with mounting hardware for securing the SSD card.
