For mounting an internal IDE device (hard disk or DVD/CD drive) on a motherboard SATA port.
The adapter fits directly onto the IDE device.

The adapter plugs into the back of the IDE hard disk or writer, physically transforming it into a SATA hard disk or writer, with classic SATA 15+7 connector (15-pin power plug and 7-pin data plug).
