Product Details
For DESKTOP PCs (PCI port) or PORTABLE PCs (miniPCI / miniPCIE / LPC ports) . Compatible with the vast majority of motherboards, including the most recent. The tester will enable you to quickly diagnose the source of a motherboard fault. Please note that this model requires strong technician skills, especially for LPC connection. Knowledge of English is also essential, as messages are given in English.
Specifications:
This board uses an LCD display and indicates errors textually directly on the screen, without going through an error code.
It can connect to the motherboard via 4 different interfaces: PCI, miniPCI, miniPCIE and LPC.
Some explanations of error codes:
When the PC is booted, the board will indicate a code corresponding to the current error. This code comes from the BIOS self-test at PC start-up (Power On Self Test - POST). The richness of the teaching will therefore be proportional to the richness of the motherboard's self-test, depending on the type of BIOS and its generation.
From the error code, either a text message will be displayed, or you'll need to refer to the POST databases.
LCD display: shows the POST code on the bottom right, and its textual meaning in the center.
LED diodes: 12 diodes covering all PCI power signals and the main PCI communication signals: +3.3V / +3VSB / +5V / +12V / -12V / RSTJ / FRAMEJ / IRDYJ / TRDYJ / CLK / DATA.
Switch menu (top left): Displays the BIOS version currently under test.
Bios Switch (top right): Selects BIOS family: AMI, AWARD, PHOENIX, AUTODETECTION.
PCI interface : For all desktop PCs with a PCI bus. Supports ALL motherboards with PCI slot.
MiniPCIE interface: Found on recent notebook PCs. The tester uses pins 8/10/12/14/16/17 and 19. Please note that some manufacturers do not use PCIE pins according to the same scheme, so the tester will be inoperable in this situation. Most manufacturers nevertheless use this definition (IBM, HP, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Acer...).
MiniPCI interface: Works on all laptops with this interface.
LPC interface: If you don't have a mini PCI or mini PCIE interface, you can use the LPC interface, found on all motherboards.
