Product Details
For DESKTOP PCs with PCI slot.
Compatible with the vast majority of motherboards, including the most recent.
This tester will enable you to quickly diagnose the origin of a motherboard fault. Knowledge of English is essential, as the messages are given in English.
Specifications:
This card uses an LCD screen and indicates errors directly on the screen, without going through an error code.
It connects to the motherboard via the PCI interface.
Some explanations of error codes:
When the PC is booted, the card will indicate a code corresponding to the current error. This code comes from the BIOS self-test at PC start-up (Power On Self Test - POST). The richness of the teaching will therefore be proportional to the richness of the motherboard's self-test, depending on the type of BIOS and its generation.
From the error code, either a text message will be displayed, or you'll need to refer to the POST databases.
LCD display: Indicates the code, and if known, its meaning (in English). The display of "no debug code" indicates that the board is not working: check the CPU and power supply. The display FF or 00 at the end of the scroll means that all tests are positive. If the tester stops at FF or 00 from the start, without scrolling, this may mean that the CPU or power supply is faulty. The display of "Final code:- -" and "Upper code:- -" means that the board is out of service. If you notice a partial display of values, change PCI slot.
LED diodes: 6 diodes covering the following PCI signals: +3.3V / +5V / +12V / -12V / CLK / SYS (the latter should normally blink). The presence of 3.3V is essential to the operation of this tester.
BIOS Switch (top left): Selects the BIOS type to display the corresponding codes. You can choose between 3 types: AMI, Award, Phoenix. A long press locks the tester to the selected bios, so you don't have to do it again later.
PAGE Switch (top right): Short press moves up one line, long press moves forward 5 steps in the test phase.
PCI interface:
For all desktop PCs with a PCI bus. Supports ALL motherboards with PCI slot. Please note: this tester is not 'hot plugged', it must be inserted/removed with the computer switched off.
