Product Details

For mounting an internal SATA peripheral (hard disk or optical drive/writer) in place of its old-standard IDE equivalent.
The adapter attaches to the IDE ribbon like a conventional IDE disk. Power is supplied to the adapter via a Molex plug. The adapter will also power the connected device, so you only need one available socket.
Compatibility:
For hard disks and CD/DVD drives,
Guaranteed to work with SATA 1 or 2, 2.5 or 3.5"
JMICRON TYPE CHIPSET, ENSURING PARTICULARLY RELIABLE STABILITY
This adapter will enable you to use a device to the new SATA standard on a motherboard IDE port.
Operation:
Plug the adapter onto your SATA device: it will cover the two black connectors on the back of the device.
Then plug an available IDE ribbon connector (on the visible pins) onto the assembly. If you have another device on the same cable, set it to SLAVE.
Power the adapter via its MOLEX connector (white connector), and the adapter will power your SATA device itself.
That's all, your drive should now be recognized as a simple IDE disk! Remember, if your hard disk is brand new, it won't appear on the Windows desktop until you've formatted it!
